First Appearance: March 11th, 2018

Geist is the unofficial mascot of ACS' twitter account. It usually takes the form of a soldier in a green army helmet with an open mouth and seemingly no eyes, taken from the box cover of the 2005 video game Geist. Memes involving Geist range from praise of the game, to sticking "Geist's" face on other pictures, to continually pleading for the character to be included in Smash Ultimate.

Geist is a video game published by Nintendo that came out for the Gamecube on August 15th, 2005, and was a critical and commercial failure, despite the hype it acquired over its long development time. Nowadays, the game is largely forgotten, though the IP is still owned by Nintendo, who regularly uses characters from their IPs in the Super Smash Brothers series, the most recent of the games coming out on December 7th, 2018. When the game was announced, ACS offered their, at the time serious, choices for who should be included, the first pick being the main character of Geist, John Raimi. As more information on its unspectacular history was uncovered, however, ACS turned the topic’s disinterest into ironic praise, implementing a hashtag that would last the entire year, #PutGeistInSmash.

Memes started as overexuberance of the game, then quickly turned to the rather exaggerated (and poorly written) back cover, as ACS treated it like a copypasta (a long phrase repeated numerous times). On the same day of its discovery, the first usage of the ‘Geistface’ was posted. Even though this face belongs to a random NPC, the twitter continually refers to them as Geist.

After an April Fool’s joke when the twitter pretended to be a daily vlogger, ala Logan Paul, the profile pic and banner, both My Little Pony-related, were lost. This is when the profile pic and banner were changed to relate to Geist, and it has stayed like this ever since, with the exception of the Mack Takeover and the following year's April Fools Day event. On April 8th, 2018, the first meme parody using Geistface was posted, and on the 19th, a transparent picture of Geistface was posted. On May 9th, Geist’s relationship with the Ice Cream Man was first shown, and on May 11th, the first image of Geistface replacing someone else’s face was posted, with the MLP character Princess Celestia being the ‘victim’. Even after the entire roster for Smash Ultimate was revealed, ACS insisted that Geist would be a DLC fighter. It is currently unknown what will become of the meme after all fighters have been revealed, although news of there being six more DLC fighters released after the Fighters' Bundles hint at the meme lasting for as long as the life cycle of Smash Ultimate itself.
